Helen Vlachos, 84, a Greek publisher who closed her newspapers and endured house arrest rather than submit to censorship during military rule, died Saturday. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home. Mr. Mooshian died Monday, Oct. 16, 1995. Born in Lawrence, he was a son of the late Richard and Maritza Bogosian Mooshian.
An Army veteran, he retired from Western Electric. He was a member of Corvair Club of Charlotte and Bible Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Helen Johnson Mooshian; and a sister, Angie Bacon of Annandale, Va. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. O'Brien died Monday, Oct. 16, 1995. Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Grace Hughes Duckett.
She was a Coast Guard SPAR veteran of World War II and retired from civil service. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Surviving are sons, Richard O'Brien of Oakton, and Robert O'Brien Manassas, a daughter, Kathleen O'Brien of Los Angeles; sisters, Nannette Mann of Ridge Spring and Annette Hamilton of Lineville, five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
